okay, I’m re-evaluating what really needs to be done.

we went to an open house on the weekend and the house just a straight up beauty. everything I could want in a home barring a few layout tweaks. but the thing is, on top of this, the house was just decorated and designed impeccably. I like to think I’m pretty discerning when it comes to looking at houses, but my eyes would wander to the rug, a painting, a fixture. it wasn’t until I caught myself that I would notice, oh, the flooring in this room is different. oh, a trim piece is missing there.

point being, it’s made me reassess what does need to be done in our house prior to listing. and yes, it’s touching up paint, patching up holes, packing up preschool art taped to the wall. but, it’s also staging it well. so my list grows from what needs to be done, to what makes this home somewhere someone would want to live, and could see themselves living in. beautify. and this is what I love doing anyways. so instead of channeling that energy into a fixer upper that doesn’t fix, why not spruce up this house. and beautifying in the sense that I’m not repainting our whole house, but bringing in some things that will make our home feel elevated, but that we can also bring with us. win win?

anyways, with this new framing in mind, let’s think about it room by room. first up, the foyer.

fixer upper items:

• redo floor (currently peel and stick that has chipped or pulled up)
• paint door (paint is chipping off, needs touch up)
• touch up wall paint

pretty up items:

• console table/dresser (right now, it’s an ikea storlinka dresser, which has a time and place, but out there, nah)
• place to sit (right now it’s a steel bench with a grey cushion that never really suited the space)
  
  the vision:

most I have – the wardrobe, a similar chair, a jute rug, a coat hanger (although ours is adorable and blue and kid sized), white walls.

I need the floors (will purchase new) and the dresser (this one is adorable I love it, so looking for something similar secondhand).

this feels cute. I love it. commence the search.
